These two works are deeply personal to me.
The first, Set Menu, explores the male-dominated spaces we navigate every day, spaces that can feel intimidating and overwhelming. When I was 18 I was a victim of domestic abuse, and for a long time afterwards I lived in fear of the world around me, of taking up space. I made myself smaller and quieter.
The second work, A la Carte, is about biting back! About reclaiming power and choosing not to shrink anymore.
They’re playful and a little bit cheeky because that’s very much who I am, but underneath they carry something very real. Claiming space isn’t always loud, sometimes it’s a quiet decision to stop asking for permission.
