“I’m inspired by the colours and shapes of food, and the way certain dishes or places can unlock a memory. I love that painting allows me to freeze these small moments in time “
After studying Fine Arts and Graphic Design at Perth Metropolitan TAFE, Kiama continued to grow her practice. But it wasn’t until relocating to Brussels, Belgium in 2022 that she began devoting more focused time to art, inspired by the city's energy and emerging creative scene.
Kiama’s work often explores the beauty in everyday moments—drawn from scenes at cafés, shared meals with her fiancé, or colour palettes she notices in passing. “I’m inspired by the colours and shapes of food, and the way certain dishes or places can unlock a memory. I love that painting allows me to freeze these small moments in time.”
Her paintings strike a balance between the personal and the familiar. While rooted in her own lived experience, they often reflect the kinds of small, sensory details that resonate widely—snippets of daily life that feel both intimate and universally understood. Her use of bold colours, playful compositions, and shifting perspectives captures the joy and texture of ordinary things.
“I hope my work can be a celebration of life’s simple pleasures—and a reminder of the shared memories we often carry without realising.”
