Studio Artoo, June 2025
I often paint with a hint of nostalgia in mind, drawing on memories that feel both unique and somehow universally shared. This series, 1994, is no different. While each painting is rooted in my own childhood in 1990s Australia, the moments are familiar enough to stir memories—past or present—in anyone. The sensory joy of cold ice cream dripping down your fingers under a harsh summer sun, the rush of hearing a parent yell “We’re leaving in 5!”, the smell of dinner in the air as you race to finish your homework—these are the small, often ridiculous moments that made growing up unforgettable.
