ABOUT

“I’m inspired by the colours and shapes of food, and the memories a particular food or setting can hold. I love that I can solidify a moment in the form of a painting.“

Born and raised in Perth, Western Australia, Kiama discovered her passion for art at a young age. Taking her first oil painting classes when she was 7,  it became a fun outlet for her, and stayed consistent throughout her life.

Studying Fine Arts and Graphic Design at Perth Metropolitan Tafe she further developed her skills, however it wasn’t until moving to Brussels, Belgium in 2022 that she started to dedicate more time to art, inspired by the bustling city and growing young art scene.

Kiama’s paintings are often inspired by her surroundings, sometimes while out for coffee or a meal with her fiance, and also looking out for different colour combinations in her environment. “I’m inspired by the colours and shapes of food, and the memories a particular food or setting can hold. I love that I can solidify a moment in the form of a painting.“

Lots of colours are used, colour blocked and adding or omitting detail where she feels. Playing with different perspectives, shadows and light. Sometimes using her own photo references and sometimes painting from special memories.

“I hope for my art to serve as a celebration of life’s simple pleasures, and a testament to the enduring power of memory and connection through food.”
